 The Dragon by Phenom38 Jake Cooper and myself along with a co worker from the Penitentiary went to the Dragon's Tail last weekend. We left on Saturday, Aug. 31st and traveled to Alcoa Tenn. Along the way, my stater went bad and we had a 3 1/2 hour lay over at the Bluegrass Harley Davidson in Louisville Kentucky while it was being repaired. By the way, they treated us great at Bluegrass, highly recommend them. We arrived at our Motel about 10:00 that evening, took our time. On Aug. 31st, we left the Motel and did the Dragon's Tail run, then part of the Cherohala Parkway, then rode the Smokey Mountains National Park(really nice), then to Cherokee, where we did the Harrah's Casino for a couple of hours, and from there we went to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge. During this ride we crested the Smokey's at 5,280 ft, which is cool, and then back to the Motel, getting back around 1:30 in the morning. We traveled back on Monday, Sept. 1st. It was a great experience and recommend it for any motorcycle enthusiast. \Tail of the Dragon 2009 September 11th Vp. Clay White, Treasurer Mike Coyl and Kim Richardson and her friend Brandon Bush left at 0800 for the Tail of the Dragon. WQE rode straight threw stopping for fuel and to meet up with a bunch of friends on the way. We arrived and checked into the cabin. Let the party begin. We all got up bright and early, riding till well after dark. We did the tail twice. we saw the after math of two crashes while we were on the tail. We partied that night also. We loaded up that morning and headed for home. We had a great time. All made it back in one piece with no mechanical failures. Im sure Mike and Clay will add to this. Mike has the good pics these are a few I took with my phone. WE are wanting this to be a yearly ride for all that are interested. A thanks goes out to Clay for making the arrangements and such good accomidations.     | |
